Another four legged pet comes to visit...

Last week we had another pet come for a visit. Brooklyn's rabbit, Rainbow came to see Room 2 and Room 3 and Room 4. Rainbow is a brown, black and white rabbit. She has really soft fur.

Room 2 found out that Rainbow likes to eat carrots! We also thought of another animal that likes to eat carrots and that's a reindeer. Both rabbit and reindeer start with the letter 'r' and Room 2 wondered whether all animals that start with the letter 'r' like carrots?

Rippa Rugby

Room 2 really enjoyed learning some rippa rugby skills this week. We loved playing the team games. We had to run with the rugby ball, weave in and out of the cones and throw and catch. It was so much fun. Thanks you Mr du Toit for organising the coaches - we had a great introduction to Rippa Rugby!

First day back - Term 1 2019

Term 1, Day 1 2019 - Welcome back to Glen Innes School! As a special treat Mr Hendricks had arranged a bouncy castle for the first day back in 2019. Room 2 simply loved the castle - they could have kept jumping all day long! Waiting for our turn on the castle was the hardest thing.

Lego Brickman

We all had a fantastic day at the Brickman show at the Auckland Museum. There was such a lot to see and soooo much Lego to build with. Room 2 really didn't want to leave!
We looked at landmarks from all over the world and got stuck into building.

It was great to see the children so engaged. They just wanted to keep on building!

Have a look at some of the base plates that we made.

There wasn't just Lego there! Room 2 also loved playing with the wheels.

What a magical day out for all of the Junior School and the extra invited guests.

Welcome back to Glen Innes School. Look who's in Room 2 in 2018! It's great to have you.

Room 2's first week was full of fun and excitement, starting with a jumping castle booked in on
Day 1!

Everyone really enjoyed the castle. It was great to see their smiles of delight as they bounced up and down and let off some steam!

We have a really busy term planned. The focus of the first two weeks is 'All about me', followed by  Magnets and Sparks.

A big thank you to the parents who completed the homework task in the home learning book.

Swimming starts on Monday 5th February and the school will be closed for Waitangi Day on
Tuesday 6th February.

Rona and the Moon...
Miss Maude shared our gifted Penguin book in Te Reo Maori on Friday. We learnt about using kind words to others and remembering that our actions (what we do) have consequences.
Thank you for activating our minds school kit.co.nz, Kellogg's and New World...and to Mrs Collins for signing us up!

What did we see at Omara Stream?

On our recent visit to Omara Stream we looked carefully at the water in it to see if it was clean and healthy. If a stream is clean and healthy it will have lots of things living in it and living nearby.
Looking carefully at the water quality, as we crossed the bridge.

Several ducks were enjoying swimming in the water.
They are able to find food to eat in the stream.

A cicada casing left behind on a plant leaf.

Sadly, Kilifi did find some rubbish. We removed it and took it back to school.

Bubbles, bubbles, bubbles

Wow! What an awesome day we had today.

We blew bubbles galore with all our friends in the hall.

Why were we blowing bubbles at school?

Our teachers wanted to inspire us to do some amazing writing, so Mrs Collins organised a fantastic experience for us all to take part in!

Snowlee was able to blow a massive string of bubbles.

Gently does it Legin!

Our principal, Mr Hendricks came along to enjoy the fun too!

Look what I caught!

Magic!

What an awesome day - Thank you Mrs Collins!
