Welcome to Term 2...

Welcome back to Term 2...

...hopefully you had a wonderful break together and didn't eat too many Easter eggs!

This term in Room 2 we have lots of wonderful learning to discover as we become “Time Travellers” in our inquiry topic and look specifically at how housing from the past has, and can, inform our future. We will be visiting MOTAT later in the term to support our overall understanding and gain a deeper understanding of the past through their "Daily life in Early Auckland" programme. Details will follow shortly...

We will also be celebrating Matariki in an informative and creative way in week 8 and asking the children to explain what it is in their own words…

Our maths focus will be the continued consolidation of addition/subtraction, personalised basic facts as well the incorporation of shape (2D and 3D) into our number knowledge.  In literacy we will continue with our phonics programme to encourage the children to listen to the sound/s that the letter/s make as well as supplementing this with either personalised KEYRING LETTERS / WORDS or ESSENTIAL LIST SPELLINGS.  In reading the daily programme will continue Monday -Thursday which we ask you to continue to support at home by reading and talking about the story every night with your child and returning the signed the reading log in your child book bag.

..............................................................................................

Unfortunately, Mrs Collins hasn't started the term just yet as she has had her "metal-work" removed from her arm but hopefully she should be back in week 2 all being well...in the meantime Ms Webster is looking after the class.
